Ceottice A. “Cee” Altherr

Ceottice A. “Cee” Altherr, 78 of Tipton died at 7:39 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at IU North Hospital in Carmel.  She was born in Tipton County on February 1, 1940 to Charles J. & Stella Marie (Williams) Corwin.  She had also lived in Elwood for 13 years.  Cee married Bernard Augustine Altherr on November 8, 1958.  He preceded her in death on December 9, 1992.

Cee had worked as an administrative assistant for attorneys Tom Hastings and Vance Curtis.  She then worked for Tipton Mayors Dave Berkemeier, George Foster, George Ogden, Dan Delph and Don Havens.  She had also worked in the Tipton County Recorder’s office for Marla Featherstone.

Cee was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipton Moose Lodge and the Tipton County Republican Party.  She was a graduate of Tipton High School, Class of 1958.  Cee loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attend their sporting events.

She is survived by her children, Christina (Altherr-Sampson) Robey and husband Jim, Russiaville, Gregory Altherr, Kempton and Denny Altherr, Tipton; three grandchildren, Kirsten Sheley and husband Kevin, MSGT Anthony Sampson and fiancée  Janelle and Adam Sampson; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Johnston and her husband Chad, and Jeremy Robey.

Cee is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Bailey Sheley, Brandon Sheley, Raymond Sampson, Bryan Sampson and CJ Sheley; six step-great-grandchildren, Caleb Johnston, Clayton Johnston, Theresa Sheley, Johanna Sheley, Tanner Sheley and Jake Hafner.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Corwin, Phil Corwin, Hershel Grinstead, Marjorie Grose, Charlene Bailey, Wilma Bowers, Charles Thomas Corwin and John Grinstead, a son-in-law, Raymond Sampson, and a great-grandchild, “Angel Baby”.

A funeral Mass for Cee will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Goth presiding.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.
