Dorothy Stroud, 88 of Windfall died at 8:10 a.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Century Villa Health Care, Greentown surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 6, 1928 in Bernie, Missouri to Chester and Arcadia (Young) Lindsay.  Dorothy married Harrison Stroud on July 5, 1946 and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1989.

She attended Salem Church, and then Beulah Land Church in Sharpsville.  Dorothy worked at Voris Seeds, Windfall Steak House and volunteered at Tipton County Shares.  She loved quilting, gardening, and crocheting.  She especially loved spending time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her five children, Rex Stroud and wife Mary Ann, Windfall, Roy Stroud and wife Sherry, Mishawaka, Gene Stroud and wife Laura, Frankfort, Rose Stamps and husband Phil, Tipton, and Ellen Purvis and husband Terry, Sharpsville.  She also has siblings Wilma Rhodes and Louis Lindsay of Fisk, Missouri; Doris Cummings, Jenny Cockran and Joyce Billington of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Dorothy has eight grandchildren, Laura Stroud, Cherie Stroud, Amy Stroud, Amanda Racy and husband Matt, Lisa Stroud, Beth Stamps, Andy Stamps and wife Krista and Eric Stroud; four great-grandchildren, Shawn Racy, Andrew Racy, Vivian Racy and Elliott Stamps.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister, Leonard, Jack, Kenny, Mary, Donnie and Chester, Jr.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26 at Beulah Land Church, 6569 N. 400 W., Sharpsville, Indiana, 46068 with Revs. Lori Melton and Jim Guffey presiding.  Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church.  Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations in Dorothy’s honor be made to Beulah Land Church.

    Terry and Ellen we are so sorry for the loss of a great lady. I loved talking to her at church and her faith was amazing. I will miss her great hugs. She was a prayer warrior to heaven received another angel.

    Such a sweet lady. Made me try butter beans one time though. I didn’t like them. She asked me why not and I said, “they taste like dirt”. She said, “that doesn’t say much for my cooking!” Then just laughed and walked back into the kitchen. What a wonderful, wonderful lady. Rest well in the arms of God, Dorothy.

    My heart goes out to all of you! I have such fond childhood memories of our families being together. I was just wondering some time back how your mom was doing. I would certainly be with you all today if I could. We have moved to Arkansas, and my husband has acute cerebellum ataxia which makes it very difficult if not almost impossible to travel.   11. I live in Virginia now,but I met Dorothy and Rose in the 70s,on Green St.Roses in-laws were my neighbors and they had a yard sale…… Dorothy was a sweet funny lady,I really liked Rose too.I never forgot them.So sorry for your loss.Shes an Angel now…,
