Dwight J. Campbell

Dwight James Campbell, 77, of Tipton passed away at home on Saturday, July 22, 2023.  Dwight was born in Kokomo on June 18, 1946 to Eugene & Celia Mae (Findling) Campbell.  He married Connie Stewart on October 28, 1972 and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage.

Dwight had worked at the Citizens National Bank in Tipton, the Tipton County Solid Waste Management District and was a lifelong farmer.  He graduated from Tipton High School in 1964 and from Purdue University in 1968.  Dwight was a member of Normanda Christian Church where he served as an Elder, Sunday school teacher and Sunday School Superintendent.  He also found time to volunteer his services to Second Blessing Thrift Store and the Good Shepherd Food Pantry.  Dwight served on the board of the Tipton Senior Housing Corporation for over 20 years For many years he was the caretaker for the Normanda Cemetery.

He was an avid Purdue Boilermaker fan.  Dwight was a gardener and he enjoyed farming with “RA” Rex Boyer.  Southern Gospel was his favorite music.  Spending time with his family and grandchildren was his greatest joy in life.  He also loved his grand-dogs Dudley, Roxie and Milo.

Survivors besides his wife Connie include their three children, Amy Campbell, Williamsport, Neal Campbell and wife Kristin, Kempton and Jenny Campbell, Winona Lake.  Dwight is also survived by one sister, Janet (Campbell) Scott Palmer and husband Lester of Danville; two grandchildren, Eli and Brinley Campbell as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Dwight will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 27 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Steve Brown presiding.  Burial will follow in Normanda Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
