Gary D. Wright, 67 of Tipton died on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at IU Health – Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on February 19, 1952 in Marion County to William S. & Mildred F. (Stack) Wright. On March 2, 1976 he married Adele Jeffcoat and she survives.

Gary had worked at Stokely Van Camp from 1974-85 in management; he owned The Wright Place Restaurant from 1986-98 with his wife Adele and most recently he was an area property manager for Pedcor Management, starting there in 2000 until his retirement in 2011. Gary was a 1970 graduate of Triton Central High School and received a Bachelors of Science in Business from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1974.

Gary was a member of Boggstown Presbyterian Church. He had served on the State of Indiana Governor’s task force for migrant affairs in 1976. He was a member of the Food Processors Association in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin. A member of the Tipton Business Association he had also served as the president of Tipton Youth Soccer Association, President of the Tipton County Pork Festival and had coached youth soccer. Gary loved fishing, gardening and managing young people.

Survivors besides his wife Adele include two daughters, Bianca Reed and husband Mike, Tipton and Tara Wright-Timberlake and husband Morgan, Ohio; five grandchildren, Storm Timberlake, Stella Timberlake, Nia Timberlake, Adeline Reed and Vivian Reed; one brother, Bill Wright and wife Ruth Ann, Franklin, Indiana; one brother-in-law, Jim Downs, Anderson; several nieces and a nephew and a faithful feline companion, Bat. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Judy Downs.

A memorial service for Gary will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Johnnie Blair presiding. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Gary’s memory be made to either Lake Manitou Association, P.O. Box 376, Rochester, Indiana, 46975 or Indiana University Varsity Club, 1001 East 17th Street, Bloomington, Indiana, 47408.

    Adele you know I’ve always loved you like a sister, and my heart goes out to you and your family in this time of need. I pray for you and I think of you daily. I will talk to you When all of this. Over. My heart goes out to you. I love you Wayne

    1. And you know, I have always loved you like a brother. I’m going to be OK. We had 43 years of marriage together and raised 2 beautiful daughters.
      They have brought me great joy along with 4 cute little granddaughters. Their families will be with me on Thanksgiving and we’ll always have the memories.
