Gary G. Amos

Gary G. Amos, 83 of Kokomo died on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo. He was born on August 10, 1940 in Jefferson Township, Tipton County to Vernon & Thelma (Stanley) Amos. On September 18, 1960 he married Karen Rayl. The couple enjoyed 56 years of marriage before Karen’s death on November 7, 2016.

Gary worked for Delphi Electronics in Kokomo for 39 years before retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Kempton Christian Church. Gary loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren. In his spare time enjoyed watching basketball and football, especially the Colts and any Indiana College. He was a high school basketball referee for over thirty years. Gary was a member of Community First Bank Journey Club. He and his wife were able to visit all 50 states and several countries with the club.

Gary was the first coach for Kempton Little League and coached for over 25 years. He helped build the Kempton Loins Club where he was a member. He was a former member of the Tipton County Historical Society.

He is survived by two children, Brian G. Amos and wife Jennette of Kokomo and Lori K. Amos of Kokomo; brothers, Neil Amos and wife Teri of Lakeland, Florida, Mark Amos and wife Karen of Kempton; grandchildren, Jake Amos and wife Courtney, Kara Rittenhouse and husband Derrek, Megan Tanner, Audrey Gaither, Alec Gaither and wife Bailey and seven great-grandchildren.

Gary’s funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until service time. Online condolences may be made on his obituary page at www.young-nichols.com.
