James R. Fox, 87 of Anderson died at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at his residence. He had also lived in Tipton, Cape Coral, Florida, and Monticello, Indiana. James was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 22, 1929 to Francis L. & Charlotte H. (Mullarkey) Fox. On July 29, 1950 he married Martha Goodnight at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton and she survives.

Jim was a self-employed well driller. He had also worked at Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo and was a school bus driver before retiring in 1980. Jim had operated three gas stations in Anderson over the years. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1947. James was currently a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Anderson and had previously been a member of both Our Lady of Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; two sons, Richard L. Fox and wife Debbie, New Palestine, Indiana, Dr. Thomas Fox and wife Sandra, Columbus, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jason Fox and wife Laura, Brooke Anderson and husband Trent, Shawn Fox and wife Katelyn, Lindsey Hahn and husband Zach. Jim is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Beau Braun, Tommy Braun, Kamden Hahn, Jaxon Fox, Nora Fox, Ben Anderson and Sam Anderson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis E. Fox and Fredrick Fox and one sister, Monica Mehling.

Graveside services for Jim will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11 at St. John’s Cemetery in Tipton with Rev. Daniel Shine presiding. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105, or to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2801 Lincoln Street, Anderson, Indiana, 46016.
