Jean A. Gunning, 88 of Tipton died at 5:25 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born September 30, 1924 in Tipton to Clyde R. & Goldie Marie (Juday) Washington. On February 14, 1943 she married James Thomas Gunning and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1995.

She was a secretary at Tipton Community School Corporation and Tipton Middle School, retiring in 1985. Jean was a member of Hobbs United Methodist Church and the Lively Ladies at the church.

She is survived by two children, Arlene Powell and husband Bob, Tipton, Thomas Gunning and wife Anita, Elwood; four grandchildren, Andrea Wilson, Jason Gunning, Beckie Hoffman and husband Jeff, Carrie Boyer and husband Tom; six great-grandchildren, Mindy, Brook, and Brandon Boyer, Lilly Wilson, Alan and Jake Hoffman.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb 9, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Roloff presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
