Jeannine L. (Mcintosh) Baker

Jeannine L. (McIntosh) Baker, 94 of Carmel died Sunday, February 5, 2023 at her residence. She formerly lived in Tipton, Culver, Indiana (Lake Maxinkuckee), and Key Biscayne, Florida. She was born in Tipton on November 1, 1928 to Maj. General and Mrs. Jesse E. McIntosh (Vivian E. Leeson). She married James A. Baker on September 6, 1953. The couple enjoyed a wonderful 69 years of marriage, loving, laughing, and raising a family together.

Jeannine was a 1946 graduate of Tipton High School. She also attended Christian College in Columbia, Missouri; now known as Columbia College. Before Jeannine was married she worked at her family’s store, R.L. Leeson & Sons Department Store in Elwood. After she was married she devoted her time to raising her family.

Jeannine was a member of Kemp United Methodist Church, Tri-Kappa, Friday Club, and Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing Euchre, the many years she spent on Lake Maxinkuckee and the time in Florida walking the beaches and dining out. She also served as a docent at Key Biscayne Zoo. Jeannine loved to entertain family and friends at her home.

She is survived by her husband, James; a daughter, Lisa Jeannine (Baker) Liles and husband Charles of Indianapolis; a son, Mark Jay Baker of Carmel; a sister, Rosanelle Pentecost of Jacksonville, Florida; two grandchildren, Charles A. Liles Jr., David A. Liles and wife Mariah. Jeannine was preceded in death by two siblings, Patricia Talley and Lt. Robert L. McIntosh.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Steve Brown presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
