Joseph C. Osborn, 46 of Tipton died at 3:05 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at his residence. He had been fighting a battle with cancer since November of 2014. Joe was born in Huntsville, Alabama on December 23, 1969 to James L. & Sherry A. (Plake) Osborn. He married Christy A. Davis on June 26, 1999 and she survives.

Joe was a 23-year veteran of the Tipton Police Department, retiring in September of 2016 as a Detective for the department. He was a member of the Tipton Elks Lodge #1012, Moose Lodge # 1590, Sons of American Legion Post 46, Masonic Lodge – Austin Lodge 128, Shriners, and Fraternal Order of Police. Joe graduated from Tipton High School in 1988 and from Purdue University in 1992 with a degree in History. He had held every position at the Moose Lodge including District and State offices along with Administrator at the Tipton Moose Lodge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Joe is survived by his wife Christy; his parents James and Sherry Osborn, Tipton; a daughter, Whitney N. Osborn, Tipton; a step-son Hayden Griffith and wife Alanna, Tipton; four sisters, Cindy Boyle and husband Bill, Meridianville, Alabama, Christy McDole and husband Steve, League City, Texas, Judy Turner and husband John, Amo, Indiana, and Stephanie Quear and husband Mark, Tipton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Osborn II.

Joe’s funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 26 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. John Ankrum presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Tipton Moose Lodge# 1590, 900 W. Jefferson St, Tipton with a Masonic Service at 5:00 p.m. and a Moose Lodge Service to follow.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about joe he was an amazing person always liked talking to him and seeing his smiling face when we lived in Tipton he helped us through a lot of rough times with our daughters
