June Evelyn Snipes, 92 of Kokomo and formerly of Atlanta and Fairmount died at 8:49 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at her residence. She was born on February 27, 1924 in Kokomo to Charles R. & Amie (Graham) Lacy. On August 14, 1943 she married Lewis F. Snipes and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1977.

June had worked at Delco in Kokomo, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Center Christian Church in Fairmount and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a graduate of Prairie High School. June enjoyed quilting, word search books, gardening and canning.

Survivors include her six children, Ronnie Snipes and wife Barb, Lynn Miller and husband Phil, Anita Chalk and husband Bruce, Randy Snipes, Teena McGuire and husband Robert and Sandra Stout and husband Raymond.

She is also survived by18 grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Small, Christina (Andrew) Hayes, Rodney Snipes, Tony (LeeAnn) Miller, Ryan Chalk, Chad Totten, Kory (Hayley) Green, Amie (Eric) Whiteman, Andrew (April) Miller, Kendra Sprague, Eric (Amanda) Chalk, Annissa (Kevin) Happel, Heather (Ryan) McKay, Melissa (Lawrence) Scott, Darren (Kayla) Simms, Sara Chalk, Jacob (Kourtney) Simms and Brooke McGuire.

June has 30 great-grandchildren, Tiffany Randol, Tyler (Kiva) Small, Brayden Lucas, Lexi Brenneke, Levi Snipes, Kelcey Lucas, Dillon Snipes, Alden Lopez, Destiny Dill, Brook Long, Lexe Nelson, Christian Miller, Mason Whitted, Austin Dill, Grace Whiteman, Tyler Seward, Conner Hayes, Gaven Chalk, Nicolas Sprague, Evan Whiteman, Lauren Happel, Jocelyn McKay, Aiden Scott, Kaytlin Totten, William Whiteman, Kaleigh Scott, Blake Totten, Leah Happel, Carter Simms and Skylar Simms.

Her six great-great-grandchildren are Bailey Randol, Isabelle Randol, Leland Snipes, Emmalynn Small, Jordan Snipes and Jordan Lafountain.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Angela Miller, one brother, Fay Lacy and one sister Jean Salsbery.

Funeral services for June will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Swain presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
