Mariruth Forkner, 91 of Tipton died at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at her residence.  She was born on September 25, 1925 in Brown County, Indiana to Mayo & Ota (Martin) Curnutt.  Mariruth married Dale Forkner on April 30, 1943 and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2007.

She was a graduate of Prairie High School, class of 1943 and worked at Delco in Kokomo before retiring in 1987.  Mariruth enjoyed reading and crafts.  She also enjoyed playing board games with her family and beating them.

She is survived by three children; David M. Forkner and wife Geraldine, Michael D. Forkner and wife Susan, Sue Forkner all of Tipton; six grandchildren; Brian, Jessica, Robert, David D., Leanna, and Rene; three great-granddaughters, Ashlynn, Kendra, and Rosemary; a great-great-granddaughter, Braylin.

Mariruth’s funeral will at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ward presiding.  Burial will be at the Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until time of the service.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, Illinois 60674 or the American Cancer Society, 5635 West 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46278.

    Our sympathy for all of you.. When your heart is empty, fill it with happy memories. Oh do we have happy memories, being together with.our cousins playing, boating, water skiing, picnics,playing.badmition, wonderful times. And Aunt Mariruth’s pies sooo good! Pat’s favorite “black” pie. Thank you for the love for all of us. Take comfort those we love will be reunited in eternity.

  2. I was so sorry to hear about Mairuth and loved taking care of her in Tipton. She would direct how things would go which impressed me. I feel she was blessed having such a great family to keep tabs on her. God bless you all
