Max Retherford

Max  RetherfordMax Retherford 80, Windfall, died at 4:12 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Howard Regional Heath System in Kokomo.  He was born in Windfall on June 15, 1931 to Carl and Alta (Shook) Retherford. On May 8, 2004 he married Shirley K. Coffey and she survives.Max worked for Pioneer for 43 years and was a farmer.  He was a member of the Windfall Christian Church and served over 30 years on the Windfall Town Board.  He also loved to travel, hunt and trap. Max served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.Survivors besides his wife Shirley include two children, Barry Retherford and wife Cathy, Galena, Ohio, and Jill Fiscus and husband Alan, Russiaville; one brother Rex Retherford and wife Patricia, Safety Harbor, Florida and one sister Janet Sowash, Converse; five grandsons Adam, Aaron, Ryan Retherford and Eric and Evan Fiscus.Max was preceded in death by one brother Keith Retherford and a sister Geraldine Matchette.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Roudebush presiding. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall,  with military honors. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Windfall Christian Church, 211 N. Independence Street, Windfall, Indiana  46076.
