Melissa R. Stewart

Melissa Rena Stewart, 52 of Alexandria, and formerly of Tipton County, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at home.  Melissa was born in Tipton on February 17, 1970 to Ted A. & Nancy J. (Hinton) Stewart.

She worked in the Alexandria Intermediate school cafeteria for 16 years finishing her time there as the Cafeteria Manager.  She formerly attended Hills Baptist Church in Clinton County with her family before they moved to Alexandria.

Melissa was a graduate of Alexandria High School, Class of 1988.  She enjoyed taking care of her dog Buster and her cat Jasmine.  Melissa also loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Melissa is survived by her mother Nancy of Alexandria; a brother, Tom Stewart and his girlfriend Kim Bagley, Alexandria; her sister Tami Wright and husband Bobby of Tipton.  She also has several aunts & uncles as well as nieces and nephews Dylan Stewart, Ryan Wright and wife Ashley, Jesse Stewart, Spencer Bagley, Dallas Bagley, Donavon Bagley, Charlie Bagley, Alyssa Swango, Michael Swango and step-nieces Ashley Swango and Amanda Bagley.

Funeral services for Melissa will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Normanda Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
