Peggie Joy Burris, 86 of Tipton died Monday, October 30, 2017 at her residence. She was born on January 24, 1931 in Peru to Stormy Edwards and Paula Daisy (Allison) Hawkins. She married Richard “Dick” Burris on October 25, 1947 and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2012.

Peggie had worked at the Tipton Meat Market, White’s Meat Market and as a Long Distance Operator at Tipton Telephone Company. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and the Twilight Club.

Survivors include her four children, Donna Tucker, Marion, Linda Sumis, Homer Glen, Illinois, Gordon Burris and wife Stacy, Sharpsville and Martha Burris, Marion; one sister, Barbara Headley and husband Jimmie, Tipton; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Cathy (Rich) Maddox. She was preceded in death by four siblings.

A memorial service for Peggie will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4 at Trinity Wesleyan Church, Tipton with Pastor Johnnie Blair presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions in Peggie’s honor may be made to Trinity Wesleyan Church, 3021 West St. Rd. 28, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you experience the pain of your loss, God ‘s comforting love will be present to get you through this time. It is hard to realize both parents are gone from your presence but it helps to remember that love never dies. God Bless!

    I have so many memories of Grandma. I can still look back and laugh. I loved her 🍝 noodles. What a wonderful woman who has gone to heaven to be with Grandpa. God has taken a beautiful angel home. Love you Grandma give Grandpa a big hug and kiss.

    So sorry to hear about Peggy, I was asking about her in August when I was in Tipton, meant to go see her . We used to have such good times at Twilight Club & playing cards My thoughts are with you.
