Richard Evans “Rick” Schoen, 68 of Tipton, Indiana and formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan died at 4:37 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Richard L. Roudebush V.A. Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on August 2, 1948 to H. Richard “Dick” and Clarice Evans (DeWreede) Schoen. Rick married Lynn Bailey on December 28, 1996, and she survives.

Rick was an avid collector of many things, especially Coca-Cola products, music and WWI memorabilia. Rick Served as a Medic in the Viet Nam War where he earned a Purple Heart. He is remembered as the #1 fan of all his grandchildren and a quiet giver.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn; daughters Kelly Leatherman (Dan) of Jenison, Michigan, Katherine Buda (Brian) of Traverse City, Michigan, and their mother Ruth Ellen Schoen. Daughters Tina Brock (Bob) of Indianapolis, Tish Reed (Chris) of Carmel and son Tim Bailey (Stephanie) of Portland, Oregon. Grandchildren include Brittany (Andrew) Doane (and great-grandbaby on the way), Nicholas (Ashley) Leatherman (and great-grandbaby Audrey Marie), Lauren Leatherman, Kaitlyn Leatherman, Nicholas Brock, Maddison Brock, Emmagrace Brock, Naomi Bailey, Ruby Bailey, Caleb Reed, Aidan Reed and Scarlett Reed.

Rick has a sister, Sally Schoen (and daughter Megan) of Grand Rapids, Michigan and a brother, Bill Schoen (and daughters Heather and Ashley) of Salt Lake City, Utah, a sister-in-law, Patricia Angel and brother-in-law/best buddy James W. Angel of Columbus, Indiana, and a niece Laura Angel-Lalanne (Luis and Ciella) of Rye Brook, New York.

A private celebration of life in his honor will be held at his Tipton home. Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton is entrusted with the arrangements.
