Rita A Woodruff
Rita A. Woodruff, 93 of Tipton died at 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born on February 2, 1924 in New Albany, Indiana to Arthur & Mildred (Loesch) Lipps. On May 23, 1953 she married Robert “Woody” Woodruff and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1999.
Rita worked at the Tipton Clinic for 30 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, American Legion, Tipton Moose Lodge, and Tipton Elks. Rita was also a member of Tipton County Historical Society and the Bitch and Moan Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Shaffer and friend Rick Brock, Scottsburg, Indiana, Kim Hoggatt and husband Dan, Peoria, Arizona; a sister, Aileen Elliott, East Tawas, Michigan; six grandchildren, Nick Shaffer, Brianna Banta and husband Billy Banta, Brooke Shaffer, Kalie Foose, Danny Hoggatt, and Mara Hoggatt; two great-grandchildren, Elaina Foose and Kylie Banta. She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Lipps.
Funeral services for Rita will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Goth presiding. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be on Wednesday from Noon until the time of the service.
Memorial contribution may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Building Fund, 335 Mill Street, Tipton, Indiana 46072.
