Charlie E. Jones, 84 of Windfall passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at home while surrounded by his family. Charlie was born on December 22, 1938 at home in Tipton County. His parents were Delver & Irene (Bagley) Jones. Charlie and Arleda Wood were united in marriage on July 14, 1958 and they were married for 55 years until her passing on December 6, 2013.

Charlie worked at Chrysler in Kokomo, first as a job setter and then before retirement he was an inspector. He graduated from Windfall High School in 1957 and was a proud “Dragon” playing basketball, track and baseball. Later in life he played a lot of golf and he still played basketball, usually at the Kokomo Armory.

He attended Windfall Christian Church with his family. Charlie and Arleda used to coach their daughters’ softball teams together. He loved being outdoors fishing and hunting. He enjoyed many games of pool with family and friends. Charlie was very proud of how he maintained his property with several people using it for photo shoots and weddings over the years. He kept his lawn immaculate. Some of the family said that his home was their favorite place on earth.

Survivors include his two daughters, Tammera Ford and husband Kenneth, Tipton and Cheryl Richter and husband Brad of Fortville; one brother, Donnie Jones and wife Sharon, English, Indiana; one sister, Kay Clark of Windfall and a sister-in-law, Francis Jones of Greentown. Charlie is also survived by three grandchildren, Luke Richter, Jessica Rees and her husband Josh, and Kasie Ford; one great-granddaughter, Charlie June Rees and five step-great-grandchildren, Aiden, Joelle, Elijah, Landon and Kaia Rees.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Heidi Finch and three brothers, Delver Jones, Jr., Virgil Jones and Denver Jones.

Charlie deeply loved his family and enjoyed every minute he got to spend with them. In keeping with Charlie’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4 at Brookside Cemetery in Windfall with burial to follow.
