Dale Edward Planalp, 92 of Tipton died at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton. He was born on May 9, 1925 in Hamilton County to Edward G. & Grace A. (Stewart) Planalp. On June 18, 1944 he married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Moon and she survives. The couple enjoyed 73 years of marriage.
Dale was a self-employed farmer in Tipton County retiring in 2012. He was a member of Atlanta Christian Church, Tipton County Bowling Hall of Fame-bowling a 299, and a former member of Tipton County 4-H Beef Producers. Dale was a 1943 graduate of Tipton High School and played basketball for the Blue Devils. He was a huge sports fan and truly loved Tipton sports, Purdue sports, Cincinnati Reds, and Franklin College Women’s Basketball. His passion was farming and sports. He coached little league baseball and loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports and show in 4-H.
Dale is survived by his wife Evelyn; a son, Neil Planalp and wife Cherie, Tipton; a daughter, Jayne Day and husband, Bob, Tipton; a sister-in-law, Helen Planalp, Tipton; four grandchildren, Chad Day and wife Morgan, Scott Day and wife Brittni, Michael Planalp and wife Megan, Monica Bush and husband Rob; five great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Day, Harper Day, Stella Day, Emma Day, and Cohen Planalp. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Virgil, Floyd, Murl, and Eldon Planalp, and two sisters, Lois Planalp and Oline McCarty.
Dale’s funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Jodie Brown presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service on Saturday.
