Dorothy H. White

November 28, 1923 — June 26, 2019

Dorothy Helen White peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Wellbrooke of Westfield, Indiana.

Born November 28, 1923 in Tipton County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Clinnie C. and Stella M. (Johnson) Watson.

On October 26, 1941 she wed Wayne Eugene White in Holy Matrimony at the East Union Christian Church.  They were married 67 years before his passing in 2009.  Both were life-long members of East Union.

Dorothy is survived by her two children and daughter-in-law, Sonja Kay White, Dr. Donald Wayne White and his wife Carolyn.  She was preceded in death by both parents and five siblings (Max, Chester, Woodrow, Lawson and Stella Crowder)

Dorothy was a life-long devoted wife and mother.  She was a housewife and also worked as a beautician in her home.  For many years she assisted in the Kokomo office of Donald W. White DDS.  She always greeted people at the office as family and as if she had known them forever.

A devoted Christian, Dorothy lived her life as an example to others, her passion was people and she loved her church family.  Dorothy was a very social person and never met a stranger.  She strove to find the good in everyone she knew and met.  She always had a smile and kind word.  She also loved to travel and was blessed to travel to most every state in the U.S.A. as well as Europe and the Caribbean.  Her other loves were gospel music and reading.

Special thanks are made to our dear friend Rebecca Rice who so selflessly gave of her time to sit with Dorothy following her stroke in 2013.  Words cannot express our love and thanks.

Additionally, the family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Harper of Tipton for his many years of caring for mom as her personal physician, the staff of Wellbrooke of Westfield for the care provided to our mother during her residence.  The names of staff are far too great to mention.  Also to the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice; especially (Trish, Stephanie, Audrey and Chaplin Chris).  Your compassion and care of mom went above and beyond.

Quoting from 1 Corinthians 13: 12 for now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.  Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.  13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these in love.

Dorothy loved as Christ loved.  May we all remember her love for us and love as she and Christ.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be Sunday June 30, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at East Union Christian Church with Revs. Rex Dunning, Mark Knapp and Jody England presiding.  Visitation will be at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the service time.

Memorial donations may be made to East Union Christian Church, 1711 E. 296th Street, Atlanta, Indiana, 46031.

Young-Nichols Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
