Hilda Smith

Hilda (Tudor) Smith, 97 of Tipton passed away at 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton.  She was born in Tipton on November 4, 1921 to Jesse M. & Leona (Eaton) Tudor.  On August 16, 1946 she married Dr. Maurice Smith and he preceded her in death on June 4, 2004.

Hilda had attended Tipton Schools, graduating from Tipton High School in 1939 and Ball State University in June 1944 with a degree in English & business education.  She was a member of Delta Sigma at Ball State, Tri Kappa, Delta Sigma Pi and the American Association of University Women.  Hilda was an avid golfer and loved to travel.  She loved Lake Wawasee and cherished the over 50 years spent at the lake.

Survivors include two sons, Steven B. Smith and wife Lisa and Michael T. Smith and wife Stacey; five grandchildren, Jason Ryan Smith and wife Kara, Chad Michael Smith, Sarah Lynn Smith, Joan Elizabeth Smith and Zachary Tudor Smith; four great-grandchildren, Amelia Estelle Smith, Caroline Rose Smith, Samuel Michel Smith and August Hudson Smith.  Hilda is also survived by a niece, Jody Tudor Stephenson and a nephew, James Tudor.  She was preceded in death by one brother, James R. Tudor.

Funeral services for Hilda will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Masters presiding.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
