Ida Kayetta Brooks

Ida Kayetta “Kay” Brooks, 88 of Tipton died Saturday, October 31, 2026 at The Waters of Tipton with her daughter by her side. She was born in Smokeless, West Virginia on January 31, 1938 to Charles W. and Goldie (Fox) Poston. She married William Brooks on July 8, 1961. They enjoyed over fifty years of marriage before his death in 2020.

Kay had worked in businesses making quality furniture and textile products. Kay loved to craft and paint; she was very creative and had an eye for details. During the summer months she planted and tended to her flowers. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters: Sarah Allison (Kelly) in Tipton and Pam Testerman (Steve) in Chilhowie, Virginia. Grandchildren include Charles Allison (Courtney), Lauren Allison, Heather Hash (Cody) and Brandon Testerman (Rachel). Kay also has two great grandchildren, Walker Hash and Elaina Testerman. Kay was blessed to have grown up in a large southern family. She has twelve siblings.

Funeral services will be scheduled in Marion, Virginia with Bradley’s Funeral Home. No services will be held in Tipton.
