James R. Modisett

James R. Modisett, 93 of Tipton died at 4:10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Hooverwood in Indianapolis.  He was born in Cass County, Indiana on July 27, 1924 to Forrest & Geneva (Fouts) Modisett.  On September 2, 1949 he married Diane Tutewiler and she survives.

James was a farmer and cattleman.  He graduated from Logansport High School and Purdue University’s Ag Short Course.  James was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army.  He was stationed in Indo China from 1943-1945.  James was a member of the Windfall Christian Church and National Cattleman’s Association.

James is survived by his wife of 68 years, Diane; two children, Greg Modisett and wife Judy, Windfall, Jeff Modisett and wife Jennifer, Manhattan Beach, California; a brother, Frank Modisett, San Pedro, California; four grandchildren, Erik Modisett and wife Sarah, Elisha (Modisett) Kemp and husband Reed, Hunter Modisett, and Haden Modisett; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Modisett, Alex Kemp and Andrew Kemp; along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by four siblings, Tom Modisett, Kelley Modisett, Joanna Lindberg, and Barbara Green.

Funeral services for James will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 25 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Roudebush presiding.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in Deer Creek Hopewell Cemetery, Deer Creek, Indiana.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday.
