Jerome M. “Jerry” Tragesser

July 13, 1944 — August 13, 2017

Jerome M. “Jerry” Tragesser, 73 of Tipton died at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at IU North Medical Center in Carmel.  He was born in Elwood on July 13, 1944 to Isadore George “Pat” and Anna (Hickner) Tragesser.

Jerry was a retired engineer, farmer, and woodworker.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Tipton Moose.   Jerry enjoyed automobiles, camping, and fishing.

He is survived by a son, Travis Leo Tragesser-Garrow and wife Jennifer, San Diego, California; a step-grandson, Tyler Garrow; two grandsons, Noah and Reid Garrow; his niece and caregiver, Dawn DeWitt and husband Greg, along with their family, Wes, Tasha, and Madison DeWitt.

Jerry was the 15th of 19 children and he is survived by his siblings Jane Folk, Margie Gillespie, Esther Folk, Theresa Starke, Judy Collins, Barb Lipetri, Norma Stiner, Carol Mozzone, Agnes Hewitt, Lenny Tragesser, Gene Tragesser, Edie Burke.  He was preceded in death by siblings Louis, Beatrice Toler, Dorothy Koors, William, George, and Phillip.

A funeral mass for Jerry will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipton with Revs. Martin Gillespie and Dennis Goth presiding. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home where a Rosary Service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church on Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
