Julie Lynn Wesner, 66 of Tipton died Wednesday, June 25, 2025 surrounded by her family and friends at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Tipton on May 10, 1959 to Franklin Gale Mitchell and Beverley Jane (Borden) Mitchell Kennedy. She married Deanna “Tooter” Harvey on July 10, 2015; she survives.
Julie was a 1978 graduate of Tipton High School and a member of West Street Christian Church. She loved her job at Tipton High School as the assistant librarian and loved all her students. Her grandchildren kept her active as she attended all their sporting and extracurricular activities, relishing every moment.
Julie had taken up kayaking, taking to the water when she could. Her love of sports continued as she rooted for the Tennessee Vols, Purdue Boilermakers, Pacers, Colts and especially the Indiana Fever. Julie was an avid Tipton Blue Devil fan! She was also a huge NASCAR fan and loved cheering on Chase Elliott.
Survivors include her spouse “Tooter” Harvey of Tipton; children, Joshua Wesner and wife Carolyn, Andrew Wesner and wife Andrea; a brother Jeff Mitchell and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Ethan Sizelove, Paige, Abigail, Cooper and Zayne Wesner; along with several nieces and nephews. Julie was preceded in death by her mother, father, several aunts and uncles, and Dorinda Harvey.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m. at West Street Christian Church with Rev. Ashley Sherard presiding. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Tipton. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and also on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
