Katherine M. “Kay” Weismiller, 81 of Lebanon passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. Kay was born in Indianapolis on October 19, 1941 to Glover Benjamin & Emogene F. (Fletcher) Moreland. She married John G. Weismiller on June 4, 1961 and he survives.
Kay and John had lived in Normal, Illinois from 1964-1978, Lebanon from 1978-89, Thorntown from 1999–2006, Lafayette from 2006–2021 and back to Lebanon from 2021 to present, always finding new friends and new opportunities wherever they went.
Kay had worked in food service at Normal High School. In Lebanon she had worked as the food service manager at Stokes Elementary School, office assistant at Farmcraft, Inc., and as a teaching assistant in Lebanon Middle School and Klondike Elementary School.
Even while being a devoted wife and mother, Kay stayed very active. She was a member of Dabney Baptist Church, Tri-Kappa, Boone County 4-H project leader and enjoyed working with special needs children. She was involved with fundraising for the American Heart Association and was a member of the Fairview PTA and president of the Central PTA. While living in Normal she attended Normal Methodist Church. Kay was also the Lebanon High School Prom Committee chair.
She enjoyed decorating especially at the holidays. She loved lots of color which could be seen in her clothes and her jewelry. When her children were younger she loved taking them on trips around town to the park, library, tours of Beich Candy Factory and many other adventures. She continued this with her grandchildren and loved adventures through reading; reading to them often and playing and exploring at the pond outside of Thorntown and later with her great grandchildren in Lafayette.
She never knew anything that a good meal or comfort food wouldn’t fix, even during her children, grandchild and their friend’s college years. She continued her love of reading, drawing and good comfort food with her great-grandchildren. She was the biggest supporter of her children and grandchildren from sports to life accomplishments. She had a love for children even beyond her own, from the children at the elementary schools where she worked to the friends of her children and grandchildren.

Christmas was by far Kay’s favorite holiday. Instead of flowers, cards and food, please help us celebrate her life by bringing us an ornament as we celebrate our first Christmas without her. This will help us think about all of the family and friends that loved her and will miss her too.
