Kathleen Cecelia Mitchell

Kathleen Cecelia “Kathy” Mitchell, 79, of Decatur, Georgia, passed away on July 11, 2023.  She was born on August 18, 1943, to Raymond and Virginia (Doggett) O’Malley in Tipton, Indiana.


Kathy met William G. “Bill” Mitchell III in Tipton. She and Bill went on to have four children, Peter Mitchell, Richard Mitchell (Julianna Mitchell), Cynthia Musgrove (Rex Musgrove), and Christine Scott (Legrant Scott III). She also had two grandchildren, Brandon Musgrove and Legrant “Grant” Scott IV.


Kathy retired and spent her time doing a few of her favorite hobbies, tending to her garden, working on puzzles, coloring, and spending time with her family.


She was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Virginia O’Malley, her brother John O’Malley, her husband William G. Mitchell III, and her sister Julian McGraw.  She is survived by her sister Mary Elizabeth Krueger, her brothers David and George O’Malley, her children Peter, Richard, Cindy, and Chrissy and her two grandchildren Brandon and Grant.


A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14 at the St. John’s Cemetery in Tipton with Fr. Dennis Goth presiding.
