Larry R. Caylor 86 of San Antonio, Texas died Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at his residence. He was born in Elwood, Indiana on June 4, 1940 to Charles H. and Mary (Perry) Caylor. His father died when Larry was young so Larry was raised by his mother and his step-father, Wayne Carson.
Larry had an accomplished military career, serving in the Air Force during the Vietnam era where he earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel at his retirement. He was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross as a result of an incident on October 2, 1969. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, the American Legion and the Eagles.
He attended Walnut Grove School until his junior year when he moved to Sheridan, graduating from there in 1958. Larry graduated from Butler University in 1963. He greatly enjoyed symphony music and always marveled at parades when bands would produce amazing marching music as they passed by. He was known to have a very keen ear for listening to music and having the ability to critique the sounds.
