Larry R. Caylor 86 of San Antonio, Texas died Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at his residence. He was born in Elwood, Indiana on June 4, 1940 to Charles H. and Mary (Perry) Caylor. His father died when Larry was young so Larry was raised by his mother and his step-father, Wayne Carson.
Larry had a accomplished military career, serving in the Air Force during the Vietnam era where he earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel at his retirement. He was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross as a result of an incident on October 2, 1969. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, the American Legion and the Eagles. He greatly enjoyed symphony music and always marveled at parades when bands would produce amazing marching music as they passed by. He was known to have a very keen ear for listening to music and having the ability to critique the sounds. Larry spent a lot of quality time just reading a good book and completing the daily crossword puzzle.
Survivors include his siblings Marla Featherstone and husband Forrest of Tipton, Jim Caylor and wife Linda of Lebanon, nieces and nephews Josh Featherstone, Rob Featherstone (Christine), Valerie Stapleton (Kevin), Doug Caylor (Michelle) Brett Curnutt (Terri), Jill Howerton (Kenny), Julie Grinstead (Gary) and Scott Curnutt.
Larry was preceded in death by his brother Charles Dale Caylor and sister Darlyn Hughes.
