Lois E. Ryan

January 17, 1939 — July 26, 2019

Lois E. Ryan, 80 of Tipton died at 10:12 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born in Elwood on January 17, 1939 to Urban & Elizabeth “Bib” (Mundell) Tragesser.

Lois worked for General Motors in Kokomo, retiring in 1999.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.  Lois was a graduate of Tipton High School.  After high school she attended airline flight attendant school in Minnesota.

She loved gardening and working in her yard.  Lois had a special talent of singing “Happy Birthday” to numerous people in a way that brought joy and a smile when she was finished.

Lois’ greatest blessings were her children, grandchildren and her family.

Survivors include her three children, Sheila Ryan, Kirk Ryan and wife Tonja, all of Tipton, and Rhonda Zerbe and husband Troy, Noblesville; two brothers, Dick Tragesser and wife Dee Dee and Danny Tragesser, all of Tipton; eight grandchildren, Landon Morris and wife Bobbi, Jake Ryan, Makayla Ryan, Tyler Zerbe, Brooke Zerbe, Alexis Zerbe, Christopher Shaner and Timmy Shaner.  Lois is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Julian Shearer and Reese Morris as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Kay Ann (Tragesser) Winslow and one son, Kent Allen Ryan.

A funeral mass for Lois will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Dennis Goth presiding.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home where the rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions in Lois’ honor may be made to the Building Fund at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 335 Mill Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.
