Mary D. GriffinMary D. Griffin, 91, Tipton died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Miller's Merry Manor.  She was born December 29, 1918 in Tipton County to Francis V. & Frances T. (Koors) Dane.She was a clerk and worked in the meat department at Griffin's IGA Grocery store in Cicero of which she was a co-owner, for many years.  She later worked at Hank's Grocery in Kokomo.  Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cicero for many years and most recently a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton and the Rosary Society.  She belonged to the Women of the Moose and was a volunteer at Tipton Hospital.Mary is survived by one daughter, Joyce Hiatt and husband Mark, Allen, Texas; four sisters, Christine Ehman, Kokomo, Rosina Simms, Lake Forrest, California, and Betty Thornton and Carolyn Deeb Biddle both of Tipton; two grandsons, Jeff Hiatt and wife April and Matt Hiatt and wife Jessica; six great-grandchildren, Savannah, Ansley, Taylor, Kendal, Alexis and Mason.She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Louise Griffin, a granddaughter Angela Lynn Hiatt, two sisters, Margaret Brown and Frances Shawhan; four brothers, Henry Dane, Clem Dane, Bernard Dane and Joseph Dane.The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 26 at St. John's Catholic Church in Tipton with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman presiding.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. followed by the rosary.Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 941 East 86th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46240, the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, Illinois, 60674 or St. .John's Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.
