Michael D. "Mike" HawkinsMichael D. "Mike" Hawkins, 62 of Tipton died Monday, July 20, 2015 at his residence.  He was born February 4, 1953 in Tipton, the third of ten children born to William & Virginia (Graham) Hawkins. In May of 1989 he married Judith Elder and she preceded him in death on February 1, 2012.Mike worked at TDS in Tipton as a Service Technician.  He was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church, Tipton, past member of the Tipton Elks, Moose Lodge, Tipton.  Mike was an avid bowler in many leagues throughout the years.  A loyal Republican, Mike held the office of City Councilman and the Utility Board for several years.He is survived by a daughter, Kristi Dennis and husband Cordy, Carmel; eight brothers and sisters, Kathy Murphy, Tipton, Steve Hawkins, Elwood, Mark Hawkins and wife Barbara, Lynnwood, Washington, Lynn Cunniff and husband Chris, Pineville, North Carolina, Lisa Plake, Tipton, Joe Hawkins and wife Kelly, Tipton, Rich Hawkins and wife Paula, Tipton and Rob Hawkins, Chicago; sister-in-law, Jane Hawkins; two grandchildren; four step-daughters; several step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by a brother, James W. "Hawk" Hawkins.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26 at Trinity Wesleyan Church with Rev. Johnny Blair presiding.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, is in charge of the arrangements.In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Trinity Wesleyan Church, 3021 West State Road 28, Tipton, Indiana 40672 for the memorial service.
