Nancy D. Wood

Nancy Darlene Wood, 77, passed from this world on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Ascension St Vincent Kokomo Hospital. She was born on January 12, 1949, in Tipton, Indiana, to Melvin O. Wood and Berta I. (Delap) Wood.

Nancy found happiness in every day and simple pleasures such as playing bingo and cards with dear friends, cheering on her beloved IU Hoosiers, and sharing a lifelong love for Elvis Presley. She has been a member of Crossroads Community Church; she deeply cherished her church family and her spiritual community that sustained her.

Nancy will be remembered for her infectious laugh accompanied with that radiant smile that brightened every room she was in. Her warmth, humor, and joyous spirit will be carried on and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Amy Coar, Joe Wood, Shane (Jenny) Wood, Kevin (Josie) Wood, Jeanie Wood, Terry (Barbie) Wood, Bradley Wood, and Darren (Ginny) Cushman-Wood; her sister-in-law Sue Wood; her special friend Marsha White; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews who brought light to her days.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Danny Joe Wood, Betty Lewellyn, Forest "Butch" Wood, Jerry Wood, and Marvin Wood.

Visitation will be held at Young-Nichols Funeral Home on Monday, March 9 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The funeral will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave Welch presiding. Burial at a later date will occur at Union Cemetery.
