R. Nathan Davis, 78, of Tipton, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 9, 2026, surrounded by family.
Nathan was born July 15, 1947, in Wardell, Mo., to James E. Davis and Emogene (Hawkins) Davis. He married Thresa “Tre” Stroud in 1991, and she survives.
Nathan graduated from Lone Oak High School in Paducah, Ky., in 1965. He attended the University of Missouri at Rolla and graduated from Purdue University in 1974 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War.
Nathan started his career at Delco Electronics and then went on to work alongside his father and brother, Kevin, at AcraLine Products and Integrity EDM for over 45 years.
Nathan was an aviation enthusiast and a lifetime member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) since 1968. He was active in many divisions of the EAA, including the International Aerobatic Club and Warbirds of America, flying in air shows and competitions in his home-built aerobatic planes and warbirds. Nathan also cheered on the Boilermakers as a member of the John Purdue Club since 1988.
Surviving along with his wife are his children, Kristi Davis, James “Quinton” (Abigail) Snodgrass, Holly Davis, Robert N. (Vin) Davis Jr., James E. (Alexa) Davis II, Jamie Davis, and Gwendolynn Davis; grandchildren, Charlie Dillman, Olive and Eli Snodgrass, June, Emmy, and Martin Davis; brother, Kevin (Janene) Davis; nieces, Leslie Davis and Jackie (Sean) Linehan; nephews, Mike (Jenny) Davis and Steve Davis; and former spouse, Patricia Freiberger-Davis.
Nathan was preceded in death by his parents.
Nathan funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family also on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
Friends may visit with the family Friday, July 31, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow visitation at the funeral home.
