Paul G. CatesPaul G. Cates, 80 of Sharpsville died at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at his son's residence.  He was born March 5, 1935 in Indianapolis to George & Flora (Ley) Cates.  Paul had lived in Panama City, Florida for 18 years moving back to Tipton County last fall.He had worked for AT&T for 20 years in data repair.  Paul was a member of Heartland Ministries Church and had served in the U.S. Army for 10 years.Paul is survived by his three children, Paulette Cates, Kokomo, Pam Cates, Frankfort and Dave Cates, Sharpsville; five grandchildren, Allan Brown, Dan Brown, Christi Brumfiel, Rich Chapman and Adreanne Cates; five great-grandchildren, Brenly Brown, Audrey Brown, Marley Brown, Chaz Chapman and Lex Chapman.He was preceded in death by one brother, George Cates and one sister, Barbara Van Cleave.A memorial service for Paul will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with Rev. Doug Slack presiding and military honors presented.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Ministries, 3611 N. State Road 19, Sharpsville, Indiana, 46068 for either The Hope Chest or the Liberated Youth group.
