After an unexplained twenty year delay, Rachelle A. Wright, age 47, was called home to her glory on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, surrounded by those who loved her most.
She was most certainly greeted upon her arrival by her mother and father, Anita M. (Catey) and Robert A. Wright, and her older sister Rhonda, all of whom preceded her.
Rachelle was born December 22, 1969, and had attended Tipton High School.
Tragically, at the age of 27, Rachelle was permanently and irreparably injured in an automobile accident on April 24, 1997.
For reasons known only unto Him, she survived to see her sons Caleb A. and Cameron A. Wright, Kokomo, grow to adulthood, even if only from the limited vista of a nursing home bed. Rachelle’s youngest son Rico Ruano, DeRidder, Louisiana was, sadly, too young at the time of her accident, and, thereafter, too far away, to have been a part of that vista. She was nonetheless extremely proud of all three of her boys and would tell anyone who would listen (and some who didn’t want to) all about them.
Although confined to a series of nursing homes following her accident, Rachelle’s wry sense of humor disarmed everyone she met and made fast friends of both staff and residents alike. In her final hours, the outpouring of emotion from the staff members at her nursing home was truly remarkable and evidenced the numerous lives she touched in her own special way.
As a result of her upbringing, Rachelle loved old-time gospel music and would sing along from memory at the nursing home every chance she could – loudly – and often off-key.
Rachelle is survived by her sister Rebecca Dabrowski and husband Mark, Russiaville, her brother Bobby Wright and wife Tami, Tipton, nephews Dylan Stewart and Ryan Wright, Tipton, and many other loving uncles, aunts and cousins.
A celebration of Rachelle’s life, joyous release from her earthly burden and eternal reward will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, June 20, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton, with Pastor Charles Riley (Abundant Life Church in Kokomo) presiding. Rachelle’s last earthly journey will follow to the Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Calling will occur from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at Young-Nichols Funeral Home on the same date.
Rachelle resisted her departure until her very last breath. To honor her resolve and strength, her family would request in lieu of other remembrance that contributions be made in her name to Golden Living Center, 2905 W. Sycamore Street, Kokomo, Indiana, 46901, where she lived for so many years, so that the selfless men and women of that noble organization may continue to serve those in life more challenged than we. Rachelle’s family appreciates their tireless efforts more than mere words can express.
And now she walks with Angels . . .
