Ralph E. Herrell, Jr., 89 of Tipton, died on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at IU Health Tipton. He was born in Kokomo on August 26, 1935 and grew up there. Ralph’s parents were Ralph E. Herrell, Sr. and Margaret (Sullivan) Herrell. He married Nancy J. Britton on February 24, 1962 and after 33 years of marriage she passed
Ralph retired from Delco in Kokomo in 1998, after 30+ years of service. He started his career at Delco as a Guard in Plant Protection, then went into Skilled Trade in Delco's Model Shop. He graduated from Kokomo High School in the Class of 1953. To say Ralph enjoyed antique tractors was an understatement. He was very involved with antique tractor pulls and tinkering with his tractors in his garage and shop.
Survivors include three children, Lisa Herrell of Kokomo, Annette Jones (Paul Couch) of Kirklin and Gary Herrell (Kendra) of Tipton. He also has four grandchildren, Jackie Jones, Nick Jones, Kendall Herrell and Karson Herrell as well as one great-grandchild, Hudson King. Ralph was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Michaels.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 1 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at Young-Nichols Funeral Home followed by Graveside Services at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton with Steve Brown presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Ralph’s memory be made to the Kempton Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 190, Kempton, Indiana, 46049. The Herrell family would like to thank all members of the Kempton Volunteer Fire Department for their tireless efforts in serving western Tipton County.
