Robert J. "Bob" Lawrence, Jr.

Robert J. "Bob" Lawrence, Sr.Robert J. "Bob" Lawrence, Sr., 78, Tipton, and a former Kokomo resident,  died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 at Autumnwood Extended Care in Tipton.  He was born June 28, 1930 in Kokomo to Gordon G. Lawrence, Sr. and Dorothy (Benge) Lawrence.  On May 22, 1949 he married Phyllis M. Hobson and she preceded him in death on April 16, 1988.Bob worked at Delco from 1949 until his retirement in 1982.  He was a member of the Elks and Moose Lodge. He loved all kinds of auto racing and also loved going to the Kokomo Speedway.He is survived by six sons, Joe Lawrence and wife Vicki, Tipton, Jim Lawrence and wife Diane, Kokomo, Jerry Lawrence and wife Lesia, Windfall, John Lawrence, Sharpsville, Jeff Lawrence, Texas, and Jay Lawrence and wife Maria, Kokomo. He is also survived by a special friend, Dottie Wodock of Kokomo; three brothers, Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Lawrence, Jr., Florida, Mr. & Mrs. Kenny Lawrence, Kokomo, and Mr. & Mrs. Gary Lawrence, Carmel.  Bob also has 14 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one step-greatgrandchild.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother and one grandson.Bob's funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Smith presiding and burial to follow in Sunset Memory Garden, Kokomo.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.The family would like to thank Dr. Lambert and his staff and also the entire staff at Autumnwood for all of their caring and kindness.
