Scott Etheridge

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Scott Gregory Etheridge, "Flipper", "Big E", passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 66. Scott was a wonderful father, brother, uncle, partner, and best friend whose heart and love touched the lives of all who knew him.

Scott is survived by his two loving and devoted daughters, Katlyn Annice and Allison Nicole; his caring and wonderful brother, Bradley Etheridge; and his nephews, Adam Etheridge, Kyle Etheridge (Alexy) and Lane Etheridge.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Joan (Hutton) Etheridge and Paul Etheridge, and his two brothers, Jeffery Etheridge and Steven Etheridge.

Scott was born on October 2, 1959, in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Etheridge family moved to Brooksville in 1969 where Scott grew up and graduated from Hernando High School in 1977. He then went on to attend the University of Florida for two years and graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

In the early 90s, Scott started his lifelong career as a Federal Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). He continued to make his legacy known with ATF as he moved from Charleston, South Carolina, to Washington, D.C., and then finally to Tampa, Florida as the area supervisor.

Outside of work, you would find Scott coaching softball at New Tampa Little League and New Tampa Predators, running endless miles through Cross Creek, cheering on the Florida Gators, and making countless memories with friends and family.

Scott lived life to the fullest each and every day. When you would ask Scott how he was doing, he would respond, “I woke up this morning.” While he may not always have known how to express his love, he had a generous heart and would have given you the shirt off his back.

Scott will be laid to rest with his parents at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton at a later date.

As Jimmy Buffett would say:      “Some of it’s magic, some of it’s tragic, but I had a good life all the way.”
