Scott Lee Smay, 59 of Kokomo passed away at 4:06 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital. He was born on December 5, 1962 in Tipton, Indiana. Scott’s parents are the late C. Kent Smay & Sharon S. Smay. He grew up in Windfall and is a 1981 graduate of Tri-Central High School. Scott was also a member of Windfall United Methodist Church.
Scott was the owner/operator & driver of Trinity Covenant Trucking. He transported freight throughout the US in his Peterbilt and truly enjoyed seeing the country & meeting people. Scott never met a stranger and loved sharing his love of God and witnessing each opportunity that was presented to him. Previously he worked for Walker Racing Team, painting and transporting Indy cars, including Robby Gordon’s Indy car. Scott had a passion for football. He enjoyed playing and watching and was a huge fan of Walter Payton. Scott loved vacationing in the Smoky Mountains and spent many family vacations there. Recently, he hauled a load to Tennessee just to spend some time in the Smokies.
Survivors include his mother Sharon Smay of Windfall; two children, Nikolas Smay, Kokomo and Emily Leavitt of Rigdon; his wife Beth Smay; two siblings, Michael Smay and wife Jorjah, Kirkland, Washington and Jody Harden and husband Steve, Windfall; one granddaughter, Ava-Ann Smay. Scott was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Chris Smay.
Funeral services for Scott will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Markins presiding. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall. Visitation will be from 12:00 -2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
