Steven J. ConawaySteven Jay “Pooch” Conaway, 55, Tipton died at 2:19 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania from medical complications due to pneumonia.  He was born in Elwood on December 14, 1960.  He is survived by mother Evelyn (Jones) Conaway Tipton and preceded in death by his father William A. Conaway.  Steve was a long haul semi driver for 32 years with a deep passion for the open road on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.Survivors besides his mother Evelyn include two children Stacy Jarrell and husband Aaron, and Jamie Phifer and husband Brandon all of Tipton; four grandchildren, Kelsey Jarrell and companion Tyler Nation, Makayla Jarrell, Delaney Phifer and Kenzie Phifer, and one great-grandchild Kayden Jay Nation; three siblings, Jeff Conaway, Tipton, Cheryl Pickett and husband Steven, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and Jennifer Conaway, Ft. Worth, Texas; one married niece and three nephews.His funeral will be at 9:00 a.m. Tues. March 1, at Rock Prairie Baptist Church, 421 Ash Street, Tipton, with Pastor Kevin Carr presiding with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 29 at the church.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions to https://www.youcaring.com/steveconaway be made to help offset funeral/medical costs.
