Thomas "Tom" Renie

Thomas “Tom” Anthony Renie, 83, of Danville, Indiana, passed away August 1, 2026. He was born September 1, 1942 in Tipton, Indiana to the late John and Virginia (Cage) Renie.

Tom was a 1960 graduate of Tipton High School and received his bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Butler University in 1964. He began his career as a physical education teacher with IPS School Corporation, retiring as Department Head after 40 years of service. Tom married Jean Michele Nolan June 5, 1965 and she preceded him in death June 5, 2024 after nearly 60 years of marriage.

Tom was a baseball coach with IPS Schools for over 30 years and a member of the Indiana Officials Association. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and canoeing. Tom absolutely loved his hometown of Tipton, Indiana. All he wanted to do was “go home to Tipton”. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed working with and training dogs.

Tom is survived by his daughters, Tricia Diagostino (Jim) and Stacey Renie; grandchildren, Jude (Hannah), Hunter, Saul and Julia Diagostino.

A graveside committal service for Tom will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25 at St. John’s Cemetery in Tipton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to the Hendricks County Humane Society, 3033 E. Main Street, Danville, IN 46122. Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel.
