Violet L. Reynolds, 84, of Atlanta, was gently called home to her Savior on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, passing peacefully with family by her side. Born on March 9, 1941, in Affton, Missouri, to Jack and Alice (Schaffenberger) Pennington, Violet lived her life with faith and devotion to God.
Violet married, George “Bud” Reynolds, on July 1, 1955. Though their time together was far too short, ending with his passing on October 10, 1964, their years together were filled with cherished memories.
She was a loving, selfless, and fiercely independent woman with an unwavering love of Jesus. She was formerly a member of Harbor Shores Church in Cicero and later found her spiritual home and fellowship at First Baptist Church in Tipton. Much of her professional life was dedicated to helping others, and she worked as a skills instructor for St. Vincent New Hope for countless years.
Violet’s legacy lives on through her daughters, Victoria (Rex) Breedlove and Sharon (Danny) Kerr, and her daughter-in-law, Devonna (Buddy) Reynolds; grandchildren Brandon (Karisue) Siniard, Beverly Siniard, Victoria Hufhand, Meagan (Joe) Davis; step-grandchildren Saul (Jenny) Black, Melanie Black, and April Sallee. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren who knew her as their “Happy”. She now joins her parents, husband Bud, son Buddy, son-in-laws Danny Kerr and Rex Breedlove, and her siblings Shirley Cottner, Beverly Housh, Mary Van Winkle, and Jack and Walter Pennington in her heavenly home.
A memorial service honoring Violet’s life is planned later this July and details will be posted here when they become available.
Young-Nichols Funeral Home is honored to be handling Violet’s arrangements. Condolences for Violet’s family may be left on her obituary page at www.young-nichols.com.
