Danny Ray Johnson

Danny Ray Johnson died suddenly at his home on Saturday, June 18, 2022.  He was born in Tipton on October 25, 1955.  His father was Donald Gene Johnson.  Danny married Sherrie Ann Reeder on October 24, 1997, enjoying over 24 years of marriage.

Danny retired from Daimler Chrysler in 2008.  He was the production committeeman in casting from 2002 until 2008.  He also served as the Vice President of Local 1166 Kokomo Casting from 1993 through 1996 and was the Union Steward throughout his career.

He was a 1973 graduate of Taylor High School.  Danny was very active; he loved to golf and enjoyed coaching his children in many sporting activities.  Danny had a joy for music, playing his guitar and singing with his brothers.  In his spare time he enjoyed watching football and was especially fond of having family gatherings.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrie; children Carey Danielle Tolle (Mark) of Kokomo, Danny Ray Johnson II of Kokomo, Russ Matthew Johnson (Joene) of Sharpsville, Blake Edwin Johnson of Elwood, David Charles Zech (Beth) of Tipton, Derek Eugene Zech of Anderson and Brian Lee Zech (Adrian) of Anderson.  Danny has three siblings, Diane Penrod of Danville, IL, Shirlie Holmes of Mt. Vernon and Paula Shank of Mt. Vernon.  15 grandchildren include Teighlor, Laney, Madison, Deitric, Olivia, Aidan, Brooke, Hope, Syruss, Corbin, Wesley, Brinley, Jen, Chris, and Addison.  Great-grandchildren are Addysen, Graysen, Tinslee, and Raelyn.

Danny was preceded in death by three brothers, Douglas, Donald and Larry Johnson and one sister, Janice Harper.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Chaplain Terry Lindsay presiding.  Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Windfall with military honors.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
