Harold F. “Fred” Boyd

Harold F. Boyd, 86 of Tipton died at 10:53 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at his residence. He was born on August 13, 1929 in Tipton to Guernie & Bessie (Calvin) Boyd. On July 5, 1952 he married Betty Charlene Osburn and she survives.

He retired from farming where he had a livestock hauling business for many years. Fred also worked at Atlanta Crop Service after retiring from farming. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1947 and was an active member of Atlanta Christian Church. Fred was a member of Elks Lodge and American Legion Post 46 both in Tipton. Fred also was a member of Farm Bureau where he served on Farm Bureau Board of Directors for 12 years. He served in the United States Army 1952-1954, a veteran of the Korean War.

Fred is survived by his wife, Betty; three children, Kenny Boyd and wife Vicky, Tipton, Dianna Boyd, Noblesville, Randy Boyd and wife Cindy, Beulah, Michigan; a brother, John Boyd, Tipton; five grandchildren, Kenny Lee Boyd, Melissa Boyd, Paula Hemmer, Kristen Boyd, Courtney Boyd, great-grandchildren, Shelton Boyd, Zack Boyd, Cailee Boyd, Contessa Crowder, Shannon Crowder, and Aniston Hemmer.

Funeral services for Fred will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11 at Atlanta Christian Church, with Rev. Jody Brown presiding and burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church.
