Patricia Ann (Vance) Brenton Suggs

Patricia Ann (Vance) Brenton Suggs, 91 of Tipton died Monday morning, January 23, 2023 at The Waters of Tipton.  She was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on June 28, 1931 to Lee and Lola M. (Bell) Vance.  Pat married Jesse I. Brenton on March 17, 1955; he preceded her in death on September 11, 1967.  Patricia spent several years in Noblesville and northern Hamilton County before locating in Tipton.

Patricia cherished her time with family and friends, always reading a book, loving to travel with her only grandson and she would always be the first one on the dance floor.  She took care of a lot of people in her days, always loving and looking out for others.

“Granny Pat” as many knew her was a hard working self employed individual.  She was involved in the restaurant business over the years and most recently had assisted with operations at “Just A Little East” restaurant in Tipton.  She and her husband also operated automotive sales facilities.

Pat accomplished many “firsts” during her life.  An exceptional one would be her first place finish at the Anderson Speedway car race in the 1950’s; a feat never done by a female prior to that race.

Survivors include her daughter Donetta Adams and husband Jon of Tipton.  Grandchildren include Josh Stephens and wife Amber of Tipton, and great-grandchildren Haley Stephens, Alexis Stephens, Britney Stephens, and Wyatt Stephens.  Pat has a brother Robert Vance of Torrington, CT.  She was preceded in death by two infant children Jesse Lee and Jessica Lynn who died at birth in 1958 and siblings Lee Vance Jr., Earl Vance, Jim Vance, Gretchen Vance, Sharon Kelley and Elmer Vance.

A celebration of Granny Pat’s life will be scheduled this summer.  No visitation is planned.
