Cynthia “Kay” Sottong, 71 of Tipton, died peacefully at 7:59 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on March 23, 1947 in Elwood to Edward and Ruby (Gould) Fike.  On June 25, 1965, she married Richard Sottong of Tipton.  

Kay had a servant’s heart and was a homemaker for her husband and three children.  She loved traveling and creating memorable experiences for her family.  She especially cherished her time spent at the beach and ocean.  She also enjoyed gardening and flowers of all kinds.  When she became a grandmother, she earned the title “Mamaw” and cherished each of her four grandsons.  She enjoyed reading books to them, playing cars, putting puzzles together and most importantly, watching their sporting events and attending their baseball games.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Richard, as well as their three children, Angie Heston of Kokomo, Todd Sottong of Tampa, Florida and Brad (wife Teeda) Sottong of Fishers along with her four grandsons, Tate Heston, Jett, Jace and Kian Sottong.  Additional survivors include her siblings, Wilbur Fike, Pat McHone, Kathy Bayes, Karen Sue Fearnow and sister-in-law, Nancy Sottong.  She was preceded in death by three siblings, Evalyn Wesner, Sonny Fike and Don Fike.

Kay’s funeral will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, June 26 at the West Street Christian Church, 132 N. West Street, Tipton with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.  Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial donations in Kay’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 West 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46278.
