Fran Yundt
Fran Yundt, 87 of Tipton passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at home. She lived the first 20 years of her life in Dayton, Ohio where she was born. Fran was born on December 8, 1933. Her parents are Rosco & Blanche (Beals) Coy. She met her husband, Dr. David H. Yundt, on a blind date while at Ohio State. The couple was married on August 10, 1957 and shared 63 years of marriage together.
Fran graduated from Ohio State University in 1957 with a degree in Elementary Education. She put her degree to use and was an elementary teacher at Windfall and then in the Kokomo School system. Later in life Fran also was a substitute teacher at Tipton for many years. She was a member of West Street Christian Church and past member of Tri-Kappa.
Fran was active at the Tipton Hospital gift shop where she was a buyer and she also volunteered countless hours in the gift shop. Even after retiring, she continued helping children by teaching them in West Street Christian Church Tutoring Program. One role that Fran took very serious was her role as “Mimi” to which most people knew her by. Mimi had a great influence not only on her own family but on many others around her.
She is survived by her husband Dr. David “Doc” Yundt; four children, Kim Pruitt and husband Kevin of Tucson, Arizona, Kurt Yundt of McAllen, Texas, Kelly Hawkins and husband Joe, Tipton, Dr. Kent Yundt and wife Annette, Bend Oregon; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Rance, Cheri, Samantha, Sydney, Tori, Drake, Reid, Colton and Ben; three great-grandchildren, Makinley, Sullivan, and Kai. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Coy, Robert Coy, and Eugene Coy.
Fran’s funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery in Windfall. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Proper wearing of masks or face coverings as well as social distancing will be required at the funeral home. The funeral will be live streamed and also recorded for watching later on Fran’s obituary page at www.young-nichols.com where condolences may be left for her family.
Memorial contributions in Fran’s memory may be made to the West Street Christian Church Tutoring Program, 132 N. West Street, Tipton, Indiana 46072. This program was Fran’s passion.
Condolences to Fran’s family and friends. I worked in the Hospital Gift Shop with her for years.. She was a lovely person, in every way. I thought the world of her, she will be sadly missed by many. The world was a better place, with her in it.
Thank You Mrs. Cardwell for your kind words. My Grandmother was a great person and she will be sorely missed by our family. The world was a better place with her in it. But when her time was done here on earth she knew exactly where she was going next and knew who was going to be there, Her mother, father, brothers, Mary Alice Nichols, Marylin Fernung, Donna Yundt, and Ruthie, just to name a few were on the other side of the gates to give her a big hug this morning and the thought of grandma getting to see so many people she has missed for so many years makes tears roll down my face with happiness. I can’t wait to see her again someday.
I want to offer my sincere and deepest condolences on the passing of Fran. I knew Fran through her husband David who, when me and my parents and siblings lived on a farm east of Tipton, we would call on him for his veterinarian services. The time I would see her someplace, all be it not all that often, she had always a smile and a friendly “Hello. How are you doing?” As Barb Cardwell said, the world was a better place with Fran in it.

I am keeping the Yundt family in my thoughts and prayers especially Dave, Kim, Kurt, Kelly and Kent. Your mom was a special lady and a wonderful friend to my mom. I had lunch with Fran before CoVid and we had a great time reliving some special memories. I know she and my mom are having a cup of coffee in heaven and smiling down on all of us. Love to all.
Keeping all of you in my prayers, I spent alot of time in the Yundt house growing up and have so many fond memories, Jessi always called Fran Mimi, she thought she was one of her grands for a long time, she loved going to visit Mimi Fran. We always enjoyed watching the parade at her house every year, she always invited us and shared so much love with our family. I’m sure her and Mom are reminiscing about old times and their kids as I’m typing this. God Bless all of you, she lived a great life and was a treasure to many.

Fran will be missed by all who knew her. She was a huge part of the success of the Tipton Hospital Gift Shop! Loved working there with Fran and her positive attitude! Her knowledge as a buyer was well respected . She was loved by so many. Thoughts and prayers to all of her family!
The West Street Christian Church Free Tutoring Program has lost a valued teacher! Her students and fellow tutoring volunteers dearly loved Fran. Our love and prayers are with the family. Fran was so dear to us and she will be greatly missed!

Warm thoughts and prayers for the Yundt family as you celebrate Fran’s life. I enjoyed knowing her during my years in Tipton. It was a pleasure to have some of you in my English class at THS. Cherish all the good memories you have of growing up under the wings of two good parents.
