Gregg D. Alexander
Gregg D. Alexander, 56, of Kempton left to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 knowing he was deeply loved by his family and friends yet confident knowing there was something greater awaiting him.
Gregg was born on July 26, 1966 to Lloyd and Judy (Griffith) Alexander, who survive. He also had two sisters, Lisa Alexander and Lora Alexander. He married Joni (Hussey) Alexander on June 16, 1990 and they built a beautiful life together. They had three spectacular daughters; Kenzie Thyen, Kiersten Baugher, and Karley Alexander. His three daughters then chose three amazing men to add to the family, Alex Thyen, Zack Baugher, and Corby Hawn. Gregg’s first grandchild, Cooper Thyen, was born in May and Gregg was thrilled. Gregg is also survived by his in-laws, John and Judy Hussey, Joe Hussey, Rob and Jamie Hunter, a nephew, two nieces, and their spouses.
Gregg was a lifelong farmer on his family farm that had been passed down from generation to generation, which made him so proud. He enjoyed researching genealogy and keeping in touch with relatives. Gregg was a lifetime member of Kempton M. E. Church and was passionate about the church, his faith, and the people that attended.
He was a 1984 graduate of Tipton High School and a 1986 graduate of Purdue Short Course. He was also a member of Tipton County Soil and Water Conservation District. Gregg served passionately on the Co-Alliance Board of Directors and enjoyed it immensely. His wit, his boisterous laughter, and his ear-piercing whistle will be missed by all that loved him.
A celebration of Gregg’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22 at Rock Prairie Church, 421 Ash Street, Tipton with Rev. Melissa Litka presiding. Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Kempton Methodist Episcopal Church, 208 S. West Street, Kempton, Indiana, 46049 or Co-Alliance Board Scholarship Fund in the name of Gregg Alexander. All funds will be donated to deserving local high school seniors who are pursuing a career in agriculture. Please make checks payable to Co-Alliance Cooperative, Inc. He was a friend guy and always made our class reunions great. He definitely will be missed by so many of his closest friends. May he find peace and comfort in the arms of our Heavenly Father.

I am so very heartbroken for the entire Alexander family. I’ve known Gregg and Lloyd through working in the Assessors office. We always looked forward to seeing Greg and Lloyd and the last few years his sons in law. Greg ALWAYS came in with a smile and a funny remark. He kept us laughing until he walked out the door. I have sweet memories as a little-little girl of Gregg teasing me about carrying my Cabbage Patch doll by the hair on her head. He would say, “You’re going to hurt her holding her like that!” I tried to tell him that she was just a doll, it wouldn’t really hurt her, but he was so convincing I started carrying her like a real child. I remember also thinking that Joni and Gregg looked just like a Princess and Prince Charming when they got married. I was in awe of how beautiful they looked. This news is shocking and deeply saddening. I’ve felt very fortunate to be able to follow the Alexander family on Facebook, through Christmas cards, and stories shared between John and my dad. Gregg had the kind of smile that made those around him smile and I know that your family will carry that legacy forward. Keeping you all in my prayers for comfort, peace, and firm faith during this challenging time.

I am so sad to hear the news. I didn’t get to see Greg very often but when I did it was always a big hello and how are ya. He was a jokester on the bus when we’re kids and there’s no doubt he carried on that way his entire life. I have no doubt he was greeted in heaven with well done good and faithful servant. My heart goes out to you all.
