Gregory Parr, 61 of Lafayette and formerly of Tipton died Monday, September 3, 2018 in Noblesville.  He was born on January 30, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas to Louis & Rita (Tragesser) Parr.

Gregory worked for Subaru in Lafayette before retiring in 2017.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lafayette and the American Legion.  Gregory had served in the U.S. Navy.  He coached the Lafayette Girls Softball team that his daughter was on, placing first in the season.  Gregory enjoyed riding his Harley, golf cart, boating, camping, and fishing with his children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and going to the casino.

He is survived by three children, Erica Dorsey and husband Shane, Atlanta, Indiana, Brittany Langley and husband Blake, Tipton, Eva Parr, Lafayette; eight siblings, Walter Parr (Camille), Ashburn, Virginia, Charles Parr (Donna), Douglasville, Georgia, Katherine Lanham (John), Salem, South Carolina, Mary Parr, Stone Mountain, Georgia, Timothy Parr, Roswell, Georgia, Ramona Butler (Steve), Dallas, Georgia, Thomas Parr (Susan), Shelbyville, Kentucky, Sharon Gaubert (Craig), Glenview, Illinois.  Along with his grandchildren, Aliyah Dorsey, Bryson Dorsey, Gunner Dorsey, Kambrie Dorsey, Braylon Langley, Landrie Langley, Sawyer Langley, and Nash Langley, Gregory was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Daniel Parr and Christina Parr.

A funeral mass for Gregory will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Dennis Goth presiding and burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Elwood with military honors.  Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m.

  1. We will be thinking of you all and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers! We were neighbors for several years, always helped each other out. Greg was a good person and loved by many, he will be missed! Try to remember all the good times you shared to help you through this difficult time.
