Helen M. Smith
Helen Marie (Parks) Smith, 90 of Tipton died on Monday, May 10, 2021 in Alabama. Helen was born in Scottsburg, Indiana on February 9, 1931 to Valoris & Goldie Marie (Kallembach) Parks. On November 4, 1950 she married Robert Lloyd Smith and he preceded her in death on February 28, 1987.
Helen was a homemaker, a job which required a lot of work while raising six children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tipton where she regularly attended until later in life poor health prevented her from participating.
Helen was quite the business professional as she graduated from Indiana Business College and then had taken her skills to Florida to manage the Ocean Village Motel in Indiatlantic in 1985.
She had also worked at the Sisters of St Joseph caring for the migrant children, loving them and caring for them, like she did her own children.She had lived in Tipton County since 1952, as she and her husband Robert cleared a cornfield at Division Road and U.S. 31, and built a home there, which was recently obtained by the state to improve Tipton County’s development. Helen loved Tipton and the neighbors she had along U.S. 31. She loved Florida and the ocean and went many years for the winter months. She was a very loving, caring mother, and was very close to her children, and all of her children loved her very dearly.
She is survived by four children, Jeff L. Smith, Tipton, William Todd Smith, Tipton, Anne Marie Smith, Opp, Alabama and Laura Leigh Cross, Tipton; one brother, Robert W. Parks, Kokomo; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by six siblings, Walter Parks, Marietta Foor, Edward Parks, Arnold Parks, James Parks and Barbara Creason and two sons, Robert A. Smith and Rick L. Smith.
Funeral services for Helen will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 13 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Carlisle presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Thank You, and she was an amazing virtuous woman like in the Bible. The best mom anyone ever could ever ask for. I don’t know how or what to do without my mother. I have nobody now , and I’m afraid to live by myself, and haven’t ever! God took her and I’m upset, I ask him not to, yet, begged him! I’m having a real hard time, bc to loose a mother is so hard I can’t imagine how to live without her. Thank You for caring!

Helen was a. good Christian who loved her home and family. She was humble ans soft spoken, but her words were full of wisdom. Her life exhibited the sacrifice and grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Helen will be grearly missed, but is now in a wonderful place in heaven. My prayers are with the family at this time and always.

So sorry to hear about Helens passing. She is at peace now, and watching over you all. Losing a parent is not easy, but just knowing now that Helen is no longer enduring any pain, and is walking the streets of gold without a wheelchair. Prayers for you all.
