Ikey Eugene Butcher, 86 of Tipton died at 5:20 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019 at IU Health Tipton Hospital.  He was born in Lee County, Virginia on May 30, 1933 to Robert Lee and Mary Elizabeth (Surber) Butcher.  Ikey married Rosie Seabolt on January 3, 1951, she survives.

Ikey was a lifelong farmer and attended Beech Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Rosie, four daughters, Carol Phifer and husband Kenny of Tipton, Barbara Clabough of Tipton, Judy Sinclair and husband Don of Indianapolis, and Kathy Yeary and husband Rick of Tipton.  Grandchildren include Daniel (Mary Jo) Phifer, Donald (Jim) Barrett-Phifer, Douglas Phifer, Angela (Mike) McMillian, Tyler Clabough, Garrett Clabough, and Mackenzie Yeary.  Ikey has three great-grandchildren, Lauren (Corbin) Moulder, Daniel Phifer and Bailey Phifer.

Funeral services will be on Monday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Cliff Kelley presiding.  Burial at Fairview Cemetery will follow.  Visitation at the funeral home will be on Monday from 12:00 noon until the service time.

    Prayers for the entire family. In all the times that I met Ikey he was such a quite gentle soul and very friendly. Keep all your precious memories close to your hearts until time comes for you see him again. Those memories can be such a comfort.
